Short story on how METTLE came to be: 

I was ecstatic. I rinsed it out and prepared to load up….

The hole in the bowl included was a full 5mm around, with an awful black ring around the edge. There was zero chance of using it without going to the store and buying some disposable screen filters. I was furious. 

How could this be? How did such a nice setup come with such a sub-par bowl?  I revisited the listing and lo and behold, there were different bowls in the images. The seller, like many, simply bought the cheapest bowls in bulk possible; and they can get away with it because typically your bowl and slide isn’t the selling point of your rig. 

That was when we decided we could do better. Your bowl should compliment your water pipe, not detract from your experience. Three are many beautiful bowls out there, but the more expensive your glass is the higher risk you take of breaking it – both because of the added cost and because of the delicacy of shaped glass. 

Functionally you’re going to get the same experience from a $3 glass bowl and a $20 one with a fancy design. METTLE’s value add lies in it’s ability not only to solve for all of the problems I had with my glass bowl, but also to fit both of the rigs I already had in my collection. 

METTLE was made to serve as a permanent upgrade to any rig you already have. The stainless steel looks great paired with glass, but we’re planning on including it with our upcoming water pipes which will feature both wood and metal accents.
